Be part of our first annual Film Festival

By Susan Thomas, Assistant Director, Electronic Communications, Boston College Center

Is your company using video to tell its corporate citizenship story? Submit it to our first annual film festival, and perhaps your video will be showcased at our upcoming conference and on our web site.

We know that companies like yours have been hard at work in your communities and around the globe making a positive impact on the world. Communicating your company’s good work in corporate citizenship has been increasingly linked to improving the company’s reputation, positive branding and ultimately the bottom line.

For this reason many companies have begun to mobilize their communication efforts to get the message out about all the good works they are involved with. Video offers a powerful way to communicate at a time when it’s important to deliver a message about your value to the community, such as the example below from Center member Whirlpool. (If you cannot see the video, please upgrade your flash player at http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/.)

We are now accepting entries for the Center’s first annual International Corporate Citizenship Film Festival.

This year at our annual International Corporate Citizenship Conference on March 29-31, 2009 in San Francisco, we will show highlights from a few of these videos. We hope to stimulate new thinking around this innovative way to communicate success with volunteer programs, philanthropy, supply chain management, sustainability and other corporate citizenship efforts.

Submissions are welcome from any of our member companies and from non-members who register for the conference. We will accept videos up to three minutes in length and select a few of these to be posted to our web site and shown at our conference. A panel of qualified peers and professionals will choose one winner from the selected videos. That winner will be showcased at the 2009 conference.

We are accepting videos in the following broadcast formats:

  • Tape formats: DVCAM, BETACAM
  • Disk Formats: DVD, Blu-ray
  • Digital formats: Uncompressed QuickTime, H.264

Submission deadline is March 2, 2009. Mail your submission to:

One Response to “Be part of our first annual Film Festival”

  1. We are a UK based iPTV station that has just launched itself into the community. Although our region faces a number of social and community issues we are trying to showcase what can be done and change the way that we communicate within and between communities. Add to the fact that the UK is undergoing significant demographic changes and economic upheaval, we face considerable challenges to ensure that all our citizens will be fully included in the forthcoming explosion in digital technology. This has been recognised by the UK and EU government in funding a new Connections to Opportunities project in order to reach out to those individuals that are in danger of total economic and social exclusion. I would like to explore the possibility of showcasing your films from the festival as a means to showing our citizens what can be achieved. We also have the facility to give you a full channel to promote the festival with live footage by allocating a streaming site. Please have a look at http://www.centralfinder.co.uk for details.
